Directorship/Ownership Disputes

  • Successfully represented Defendant Directors in multiple directorship disputes involving a nonprofit religious corporation that resulted in dismissals on February 10, 2020, after a bench trial in Alameda County Superior Court [Consolidated cases ISEB v. Mahmood/Khanzada, et al., Case No. RG16809918 and ISEB v. Baig, et al., Case No. RG16816687]. These actions rose out of the underlying directorship disputes in ISEB v. Baig et al., Case No. HG13-697613; ISEB v. Baig et al., Case No. RG13-699775; Khan v. Ahmed et al., Case No. RG13699431; and Weiss v. ISEB et al., Case No. HG14709070.
  • Successfully resolved a LLC membership dispute involving ownership interests in real estate development projects, Kakar v. Mirza, Case No. RG15794393.
  • Advised a Founder/Director and averted a hostile intellectual property transfer scheme by a Co-Founder/Director.
  • Advised and successfully represented a fast food franchisee against his co-owners before the American Arbitration Association in Panwar et al., v. Usman, AAA Case No. 01-18-0003-9378.
  • Advised and successfully represented a co-owner in a business ownership dispute in Ghuman v. Sandhu et al., Case No. RG17879749.
  • Successfully represented co-owners of several pharmacies before the Board of Pharmacy, Department of Consumer Affairs

Intellectual Property

  • Zircon Corporation v. eTAGZ Corporation (N.D. Cal.) in a strategic DJ Action, Plaintiff obtained an extremely favorable settlement.
  • Visto Corp. v. Microsoft; Visto Corp. v. Research in Motion; and Visto v. Good; (E.D. Tex.)—Visto held a portfolio of patents directed to wireless messaging and e-mail, calendar and contact synchronization, including U.S. Patent No. 6,085,192.  Was part of a team that successfully litigated Visto’s patent portfolio.
  • CNET Networks Inc. v. Etilize Inc. (N.D. Cal.) defended allegations of infringement on patents claiming methods and processes that aggregate content for online purchasing and cataloging systems.
  • Successfully represented employees and defended allegations of trade secret misappropriation in Golden State Home Health Care & Hospice Inc. v. Begum et al., Case No. RG16800816.
  • Prosecuted US utility and design patents and trademarks to successful registration
  • Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., v. Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc., v. Zircon Corporation (Patent Trial and Appeal Board, 2021) successfully obtained a PTAB decision denying Institution of Inter Partes Review of the ‘662 Patent.
  • Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., v. Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc., v. Zircon Corporation (Patent Trial and Appeal Board, 2021) successfully obtained a PTAB decision denying Institution of Inter Partes Review of the ‘771 Patent.
  • Represented Complainant Zircon Corporation before the US International Trade Commission, In the Matter of Certain Electronic Stud Finders, Metal Detectors and Electrical Scanners (USITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1221)

Real Estate Disputes

  • Successfully resolved a real estate dispute between lenders and real estate developers in ML Investment Irvington LLC v. Mirza et al., Case No. RG15794393.
  • Successfully resolved a commercial real estate ownership dispute in Taqwa v. Aziz Investment Management Inc., et al., Case No. HG18929599.
  • Successfully represented a nonprofit entity in an underlying real estate ownership dispute after winning on a motion for summary judgment in Aziz Investment Management Inc. v. Taqwa Islamic Center, Case No. RG19012519.
  • Successfully represented an investor in an underlying real estate development project in Ali v. Newark Atrium LLC, Case No. RG15782722.

Personal Injury  

  • Plaintiffs obtained a $8,250,000 settlement in a wrongful death case, where a pickup truck struck and killed two passengers and injured other passengers in a minivan at an intersection (2021).
  • Obtained a $5,000,000 judgment in a wrongful death case, where a drunk driver struck and killed a pedestrian in a crosswalk (2018).
  • Plaintiffs were traveling in a Chevy Silverado when they turned left on a green light and were struck by an oncoming vehicle who failed to stop at the red light: Cumulative Settlement $231,000 (2015).
  • Plaintiff, a pedestrian, was run over by a forklift in a parking lot, injuring his foot: Settlement $225,000
  • Plaintiff, a pedestrian, was crossing Leghorn Street in Mountain View, west of the intersection with Rengstorff Avenue, when she was struck and injured by a motor vehicle: Settlement $188,000 (2017).
  • Plaintiffs shared and consumed a ‘bibimbap’ beef lunch box, consisting of rice, vegetables, beef, red pepper paste, and a half-cooked egg for dinner and suffered from salmonella and food poisoning: Settlement: $170,000 (2018).
  • Our client was riding his motorcycle when he was struck and killed by a vehicle that failed to stop: Policy Limits Settlement $100,000 (2019).
  • Plaintiff was riding his bicycle traveling northbound on Middlefield Road when he was struck by a Toyota Sienna that failed to stop at the signal light: Policy Limits Settlement $100,000 (2016).
  • Plaintiff was driving eastbound on El Camino Real in Mountain View on her way home from the gym, where she regularly exercised. While passing through the intersection with Sylvan Avenue,  Plaintiff was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at the red light at El Camino Real:  Settlement $82,500 (2017).
  • Plaintiff was traveling northbound on I-680 in her Toyota Corolla when she was struck by a commercial 18-wheeler who merged in Plaintiff’s lane without looking. Luckily, Plaintiff suffered minor soft tissue injuries:  Settlement $60,000 (2018).
  • Plaintiff was driving her Toyota Corolla eastbound on Mission Street in Walnut Creek when she was struck by a vehicle: Settlement $58,000 (2016).
  • Plaintiff was walking his little beagle near downtown Palo Alto en route to a café to have coffee with his girlfriend. Suddenly, a large Tibetan mastiff ran out of a construction site and attacked Plaintiff’s beagle. In the ensuing scuffle, plaintiff was bit on the finger: Settlement $45,000 (2020).
  • Plaintiff suffered from soft tissue injuries when she was rear-ended at a stop light in San Jose: Settlement $35,000 (2019).
  • Plaintiff, a LYFT driver, was traveling westbound on SR-92 just east of the toll plaza in Redwood City. Plaintiff came to a full stop due to the traffic ahead of him when he was rear-ended by a vehicle that failed to observe the traffic in front of him:  $26,500 (2020).
  • Plaintiff suffered from soft tissue injuries when she was rear-ended at a stop light in San Jose: Policy Limits Settlement $25,000 (2019).
  • Plaintiff was travelling westbound on Auto Mall Parkway in her Toyota Corolla and she stopped at the intersection at Auto Mall Parkway and Boyce Road. When the stoplight changed from red to green, Plaintiff proceeded into the intersection and was struck by an automobile:  Policy Limits Settlement $25,000 (2018).
  • Plaintiff was struck in a head-on traffic collision after the other vehicle failed to yield to Plaintiff’s right of way at the intersection of Monroe Street and Benton Street in Santa Clara: Luckily, Plaintiff suffered minor soft tissue injuries:  Settlement $25,000 (2018).
  • Plaintiff was driving a BMW on 9th Street in Modesto, California when he was suddenly side swiped by a Chevrolet cargo van: $25,000 (2016)
  • Plaintiff was walking in a parking structure when she was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop: Luckily, Plaintiff suffered minor soft tissue injuries:  Settlement $20,000 (2016).
  • Plaintiff, a pedestrian, was crossing Regional Street in Dublin when she was struck by a Chevy Tahoe: Confidential policy limits settlement (2020).
  • Plaintiff was riding his bicycle northbound on Monterey Road. As he approached the crosswalk, he made eye contact with a driver in a SUV. While in the middle of the crosswalk, the SUV drove through the crosswalk, struck plaintiff and ran over his legs. When plaintiff cried out in pain, the SUV backed over his legs again: Confidential policy limits settlement (2020).
  • Plaintiff was riding his bicycle on Castro Valley Boulevard when he was side swiped by a vehicle: Confidential policy limits settlement (2020).
  • Plaintiff purchased a slice of pizza at the deli of a popular grocery store. Plaintiff sat down to enjoy his slice when he bit into a hidden screw imbedded in the pizza: confidential settlement (2020).

Employment Litigation  

  • Successfully settled several wage and hour claims against our client a security company.
  • Obtained a $70,000 settlement for a wage and hour claim against a property management firm.
  • Obtained a $300,000 settlement for a wage and hour claim on behalf of ten Plaintiffs against a medical laboratory.
